Start with your countertop choice — it is easier to match cabinet color to a fixed countertop than the reverse. Light neutral cabinets (white, off-white, light gray) work with almost any countertop and are the safest choice for resale. If you are going for a two-tone kitchen (different upper and lower colors), a classic pairing is white uppers with a color or darker tone on lowers and island.
